THE FILM
This one-hour documentary follows two communities - one in Ecuador and one in Uganda - as they embark on the monumental task of constructing their own water systems. Through the eyes of community members and local program staff we follow a journey of dedication, suspense, and perserverance and gain a critical insights from Indigenous and last mile communities confronting the global water crisis.
GREEN EMPOWERMENT
Green Empowerment is a Portland based non-profit that works with Indigenous and rural communities around the globe to build clean water and renewable energy infrastructure. With 97% long term sustainability of their projects, they have developed a uniquely effective approach to development centered on collaboration with local leaders and deep community engagement from start to finish.
Q&A WITH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ANDREA JOHNSON
As Executive Director at Green Empowerment for the past eight years, Andrea Johnson draws on her management experience in Oregon's energy sector and her international work as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador. Her early career began with climate research during her undergraduate studies at Duke University and as a research fellow at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
